Should I moisturize my hair before braids? Yes, it is important to make sure your strands are properly moisturized and prepped for the next step. The better moisturized your hair is before you put in the braids, the better hydrated it will stay for the entire time your braids are in.
Can I wash my braids? To keep your hair and scalp healthy, it is recommended that you wash your braids every 3 weeks or as needed. If you're not washing your hair and scalp, that means all the buildup from products and dry skin just stays on your scalp, which can lead to flakes and itchiness. its easier to wash your hair in the shower. Wet your hair, put shampoo on your fingertips, then gently massage the shampoo onto your scalp with your fingertips for few minutes and rinse. repeat shampoo and don't forget to condition your scalp.
How long should I keep my braids in? Your braid Stylist will determine how long your specific braid style should be in to maintain the health of your hair and scalp, but as a general rule try to keep your braids in for no longer than 8 weeks at a time. (Recommended)
Should I oil my scalp when wearing braids?
Oil is a vital component of encouraging hair growth and maintaining a healthy, happy scalp under braids. Oil soothes itching, prevents damage from styling products, strengthens and protects strands, softens hair, and locks in moisture. You should oil your scalp once or twice a week, lightly.
How soon can I get Braids after relaxing my hair?
We recommend relaxed clients wait at least 2 to 3 weeks after getting a relaxer to get braided styles. After a relaxer, your hair is in a “fragile” state and needs to not be manipulated with tight styles like braids or twists.
How long does your hair need to be for knotless braids?
Hair should be at least 3 inches long blow dried. Depending upon consistency of health and density throughout the hair, broken/shorter areas may only qualify for small knotless box braids to ensure the security and longevity of the braids
